Spyker D12 Peking-to-Paris ‘SSUV’ Development On Track

2006 Spyker D12 Peking-to-Paris concept

Despite Spyker’s management reshuffles and purchase of Saab, the Dutch sports car company remains confident of launching several new models of its own in coming years. Already we’ve seen the introduction of the long-wheelbase C8 Aileron and C8 Aileron Spyder, but soon we may be able to add a new ‘Super Sport Utility Vehicle’ (SSUV for short) to that list in the form of the production version of 2006’s D12 Peking-to-Paris concept car.

The concept was originally launched at the Geneva motor show four years ago, but development had been put on hold in November following Spyker’s bid for Saab.
But Muller said at this year’s Geneva show that development would now be accelerated due to due to the facilities, parts and technology it has at its disposal following the Saab deal.

With this latest model, Spyker will be focusing on the East European market for the first time, as well emerging markets like China and the Middle East. Many of the roads in these markets are often in poor condition and nearly impossible to navigate with low-slung supercars, thus buyers have been demanding performance vehicles with offroad capability. One of the key reasons we’ve seen vehicles like the new X6 and the more recent Aston Martin Lagonda Concept.

Not much is known about Spyker’s new SSUV but designers have reportedly decided to change the originally planned powerplant from a Volkswagen-sourced 6.0-liter W-12 engine to something from America--with GM’s LS line of V-8s most likely on the cards, hence a possible name change to D8.

Spyker has previously said the D12 will cost £186,000.

The Volkswagen subsidiary has its hands full for the construction of the Veyron. From the coupe version, the sales counter is already at more than 250 units, which means that less than 50 cars still exist. For the Grand Sport has the brand to own several dozens of orders received. Bugatti produces only 150 two-open. Special editions will be based on both variants come. Whether there is a stronger copy out is not clear. Paefgen leaves at least know that Bugatti is not the throne late strike. In an earlier interview with Autovisie, the Bugatti boss that "only in 2011 or 2012" is a completely new model. "The new car must fit into the Bugatti history, but also to the Veyron. A totally different direction is not an option." According to the principles of founder Ettore, the new car "at least one plane extreme, though not necessarily for performance. Bugatti affected the limits and always searched for new ideas to outdo the competition," said Paefgen.

Frankfurt Motor Show: VW Golf GTI-R

Volkswagen is secretly prepare a more difficult, faster Golf GTI introduced in the fall of 2009. Cars VW Golf GTI - R, the incubation temperature will follow the classic formula of performance more power and lighter switch Golf GTI (Mk6) by the smooth and wise Express hatchback to a proper pocket rocket again.

U.S. sources indicate that the R version in Germany will not use the outgoing R32's V6 engine, the use of lighter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine some 266bhp. It sounds suspiciously like our Audi S3 engine, same one for the upcoming Scirocco R20T.
VW Golf GTI - R's: the story of high-tech

Itsn't just 60bhp to rely on the public to promote the upcoming regular VW Golf GTI. We heard it will use four-wheel drive to tame the thrust, rather than to deceive the front-end employed by Fox diffs Xinmei RS and Renault Megane 250.

And put forward the extra weight, Golf GTI - R will obviously accept the program lose weight. We want less than the premium comfort of the R32-oriented - so few items, and even alleviate some structural. We are not clear at this stage if special materials will be used.
Therefore, when I can buy a new Golf GTI - R's?

U.S. information points, the first time at Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2009, pointing to the introduction of the winter 2009-2010 Hall.
